This is a great position for a self-starter looking to apply their accounting or investment banking skills – and perhaps untapped entrepreneurial spirit – to a VC fund that is poised to have massive impact for years to come. - Building and maintaining a library of current valuation metrics (private and public trading multiples for comparable companies and M&A transactions)
- Supporting annual year-end audit and semi-annual impact assessment process (compiling and maintaining data rooms, collecting, managing and assessing impact data and relevant industry benchmarks, and generating charts, graphs and slides to tell the story of portfolio performance).
- Over time and with training, this role will grow to include building waterfalls, pro forma cap tables, and preparing exit scenario analyses
- Broader platform work and operational tasks/special projects as needed, including event support, occasional market research to support thought leadership, and firm marketing
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of accounting (ideally, transaction advisory services), investment banking (tech, education, healthcare, climate), or similar experience with killer financial skills and a passion for numbers
- Ability to comb through quarterly financial statements to derive key insights and performance trends
- Familiarity with various company valuation techniques (comparable companies, comparable transactions, discounted cash flows)
- Resourcefulness unearthing key financial and operating data on a broad swath of companies (public and private) across multiple sources (PitchBook, blogs, news articles, word of mouth) to aid in due diligence and valuation efforts for existing and potential portfolio companies
- Demonstrated passion for gender equality and/or social or environmental impact is a plus
Work Style:
- Ability to juggle many projects at once and maintain cool amidst competing deadlines, shifting priorities, and occasional last minute “fire drills”
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfort and experience managing highly confidential information
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills; ability to support team members and counterparties / VIPs with diverse work styles
- Self-starter and fast learner who can successfully work independently while also deriving joy from being part of a collective team outcome
- Thrives in a remote work setting (we have team members around the country)
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment and work outside one’s comfort zone
- Minimum of 2-year commitment but potential for long term – come grow your operational and finance chops with us!
Experience: While we’re open to a wide range of backgrounds, a typical candidate probably has 2-3 years of investment banking or fund accounting experience, along with experiences requiring a high level of attention to detail.
Work Location & Eligibility: While the position will report to someone in Pittsburgh, we are open to any U.S. location within one hour of a major airport and care most about someone who has experience with and a preference for working remotely. This role will require some light travel throughout the year. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. This position does not offer visa sponsorship.
